Secondary School Apprenticeship

Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA 11A, 11B, 12A, 12B) allows students to begin the process of apprenticeship while still in school.

  • Students are registered as regular apprentices with ITA (the Industry Training Authority);
  • Students must be paid by the employer at least minimum wage;
  • Students completing 480 hours earn 16 credits towards graduation;
  • Students remaining in an apprenticeship or in full-time schooling six months after graduation are potentially eligible for a $1,000 scholarship;
  • Employers are eligible for tax credits for taking on an apprentice;
  • Students must be working with a journeyman in order for the hours to be valid;
  • Students are responsible for finding their own employer for this program.
