Cross Boundary Requests
School District 72 has established a process – using a cross
boundary student request form – to help students attend a school
outside their district catchment area. Enrolment depends on applying
by the district deadline and the availability of space and facilities
at the requested school.
There are some important dates to remember:
January 15 The first date by which cross boundary student request
forms can be submitted to a school.
March 1 The deadline by which a student must submit a form to attend
a non-catchment school or a district program.
April 1 The date by which schools will mail letters
to transfer applicants advising them of the status of their application.
Students applying after March 1 will be placed on a wait list that will be reviewed in September and decisions will be dependent upon student enrollments and available space.
Once a cross boundary request as been approved, the student can
stay at that school until the student advances to their next schooling
level (i.e. - elementary to middle school, middle to secondary school)
or until the parent requests a transfer to another school.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the Board of Education’s recent decision not to offer a full-day kindergarten program for the 2010/11 school year, with the exception of the existing Aboriginal kindergarten program, this process now applies to all students in kindergarten through to grade 12.
