Age group: Grades 10-12 Hours: Monday through Friday
Morning Program 9:00 - 11:30 Afternoon Program: 12:00-2:30
The Nexus Alternate Program (Senior Elm Program) is intended for students in grades 10 through 12 who are under 19 and are looking to graduate with a BC Dogwood or Adult Dogwood Diploma.
Students' needs are met through self-paced, individualized, educational opportunities in both our morning and afternoon programs.
The focus is on academics, but we also include coursework for cooking, art, physical education and other electives in small groups as well as in individual courses.
Those who do well in a quiet and well-supported environment, and like to work at their own pace, will find the Nexus Alternate Program an appealing and productive place to be.
The program suits students who may need to work part-time while they also attend school part-time.
The classes are perfect for those who are not able to be in a mainstream school and who may have a variety of needs including health issues, social/emotional concerns as well as those who simply need a less active environment to do their inependent learning.
Both the morning and afternoon Nexus Programs are supported by two classroom teachers and two educational assistants.
Teachers: Andrew Schopp, Christine Middleton
Educational Assistants: Joanne Hart, Jo White
