Information SOUTHGATE MIDDLE SCHOOL PRESENTS SHOWCASE 2010 ‘Home and Away’ March 17, 2010 In 2010, the proceeds from our 6 th annual Talent Show will be donated to an at home (local) organization as well as to an organization in the global community. “Doctors Without Borders” will be the away charity, and we have chosen to donate a portion of our proceeds to the homeless of our community, which ties into our March campaign “Hope for the Homeless”. We will use this portion of our proceeds to purchase blankets, food and other items. These items will be distributed through several agencies. We are seeking donations from businesses and households that could be used in our gift basket raffle. There will also be a 50/50 draw (with the appropriate gaming license) and a concession with baked goods, pizza and more. Donations for the raffle will need to be dropped off at the office by Monday, March 15 th. Please include your name or name of the business providing the item when making a donation. Haiti Relief Fund Activity On Friday, February 5th many Southagte Students and Staff wore purple and made contributions toward the Haiti Relief Fund. $850 was collected from students and staff and Sears also contributed one dollor for every student wearing purple. That added another $373 to the fund. Additional contributions brought the total to $1503.08. See photo below of the cheque presentation to the World Community Servive Committee of the Campbell River Rotary. Well done Southgate Student and Staff and a big thanks to Sears for helping out. January Recognition Assembly 2010 On Friday of this week student are encouraged to wear purple and bring a donation in support of the people of Haiti. December Recognition Assembly 2009 Well Done Southgate Students - Over $1200 was collected in our recent coin drive.
