Dear parents/guardians and staff,
Earlier today, Premier John Horgan and Education Minister Rob Fleming announced that, under the direction of the Provincial Health Officer, all in-class instruction for BC K-12 schools is suspended indefinitely as part of the provincial response to COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).
We understand that this will be difficult for families, students and staff and that you will likely have many questions on how this will impact you and/or your family. There are a lot of logistics to determine and we commit to sharing more information as quickly and as thoroughly as we can.
School districts around the province have been asked by the Ministry of Education to begin planning for continuity of learning. In the coming days, we will be having discussions with our school administrators and education partners about what that may look like.
We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work through this challenge.
As a school district, we remain committed to keeping families and staff updated. We encourage you to use the district website (www.sd72.bc.ca) and official social media channels as your primary source for updates impacting SD72 students, staff and families. Follow us on social media at Campbell River School District – SD72 on Facebook and @CRSD72 on Twitter.
The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we will continue to closely monitor the situation and rely exclusively on information and directives from the BC Provincial Health Officer and Government of British Columbia.
Again, we appreciate your ongoing patience during this unprecedented health crisis and as we all try to do our part to flatten the curve and prevent this virus from spreading.
Please stay healthy and safe and more information will be shared as soon as we can.
Dr. Jeremy Morrow
Superintendent of Schools
