COVID-19: Community Resources and Supports

​During these uncertain times, we have captured some resources and supports available to help support the community. This list is a live document and may be added to.

Government Resources ​
​BC Government COVID-19 Provincial Support and Information​Here you will find a wealth of information specific to British Columbia, such as the Provincial Health Officer’s daily updates and sections on childcare, education, employment and finances, supports and resources for businesses, housing and monthly bills, transportation, and more.
Government of Canada’s Economic Response Plan ​On this site you will find information on all the federal supports available for individuals, businesses and industries.
​ ​Health and Mental Health Resources - Local
Campbell River Hospice​Offering online/telephone support for those who have recently suffered a loss.
​Family Smart​Parent in Residence provides support for families and adults who are parenting a child or youth who is struggling with a mental health challenge.  Parents in Residence are available to provide peer support to all families living in BC by phone and video chat. Email

First Nations Health Authority​This link includes a list of service providers who have received cultural training to directly support Indigenous people. There are over 10 counsellors on this list in the Campbell River area. You can also watch videos from First Nations Health Authority Chief Medical Officer Dr. Evan Adams and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Nel Wieman.
​Foundry Campbell River ​Telephone and video counselling available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. To book an appointment call (250) 286.0611. Note: to access video counselling you will need a smart phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone.
​KDC Health​Offering telephone consultation for those who qualify. Follow their Facebook page at KDC Health for up-to-date information (250) 203.7265 (call or text Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
​Laichwiltach Family Life Society​Offering tele-counselling for those who qualify. Call (250) 286.3430
​SD72 Elementary Counsellors​Our elementary school counsellors are available to provide online counselling for elementary students or parental support for elementary students who are experiencing anxiety about COVID-19. ​Anxiety Canada​An interactive resource for youth to get information and strategies to manage anxiety – Also offering a free MindShift App.
BC Council for Families ​Resources and ideas to support parents and families during the COVID-19 response.
​Born to Move​A YouTube channel that offers energetic dance and movement videos for kids to participate alongside.
EASE At Home​Provides tips and strategies parents can use with their children to create calming routines, talk about difficult emotions and manage anxiety.
​GoNoodle​Movement and mindfulness videos for children created by child development experts.
Kelty Mental Health​Also follow their Facebook page for new and relevant information. They post great podcasts, articles and more.
Kids Help Phone ​The website has access to support for children and youth 24/7 by text, phone, or live chat. In addition, there are resources regarding emotional support during the COVID-19 pandemic. 1-800-668-6868
​Mindfulness for Teens​A site to provide mindfulness resources for teenagers.
Starling MindsFree, online mental health program will help anyone, anywhere combat stress, anxiety and worry during the coronavirus crisis.
VictimLink BC​Call 1-800-563-0808 for confidential support, information, and referral services if you are feeling unsafe at home. Call 9-1-1 if in immediate danger.
WE Schools @home​The WE well-being program for youth from kindergarten to grade 12 who are experiencing anxiety and social isolation. Provides online learning supports to develop social-emotional skills and resiliency.
Whole Child Counselling​Counselling website that has a lot of resources for both kids and parents!
Virtual Field Trips​ and Outings​
FarmFood​This Canadian site FarmFood 360 offers 11 Virtual Tours of farms from minks, pigs, and cows, to apples and eggs.
London's British Museum​This iconic museum located in the heart of London allows virtual visitors to tour the Great Court and discover the ancient Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies.
Museums from Around the World​Virtual tours and online exhibits of some of the most famous museums around the world. 
San Diego Zoo​The San Diego Zoo has a website just for kids with amazing videos, activities, and games. Enjoy the tour!
The Louvre​Travel to Paris, France to see amazing works of art at The Louvre with this virtual field trip.
