Proposed School Calendars for 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 Available for Input

February 24, 2016

As a district first, the superintendent has developed a two-year school calendar to afford the Board and families a greater opportunity to plan ahead. At their February 23 public meeting the Board of Education passed a motion to make these draft calendars available for public feedback.

The calendars were developed in consultation with the district's calendar committee which is comprised of representatives from the Board of Education, Campbell River Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association, Campbell River District Teachers’ Association, CUPE Local 723, the District Parent Advisory Council, senior management, the Core Pro-D coordinator, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council, and students from Carihi and Timberline secondary schools.

The 2016/2017 calendar features two professional development days prior to school opening, a 10-day spring break, and a two-week Christmas break.

The 2017/2018 calendar features three professional development days prior to school opening, and two-week spring and Christmas breaks.

The final school calendar is required to be submitted to the Ministry of Education by March 31.

Copies of the proposed 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school calendars are attached below and feedback can be sent to school.calendar@sd72.bc.ca
