At the February 21 public board meeting, the Board of Education passed a motion to make the draft calendar for the 2017/2018 school year available for public feedback. The calendar was developed by Superintendent Longridge in consultation with the district’s calendar committee.
The calendar committee is comprised of representatives from the Board of Education, Campbell River Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association, Campbell River District Teachers’ Association, CUPE Local 723, the District Parent Advisory Council, senior management, the Core Pro-D coordinator, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council, and students from Carihi and Timberline secondary schools.
The proposed 2017/2018 calendar has school opening on September 5, the first Tuesday after Labour Day, and three professional development days prior to school opening and a two-week spring break.
Feedback will be collected until 4 p.m. on March 29 as the final school calendar is required to be submitted to the Ministry of Education by March 31.
A copy of the proposed 2017/2018 school calendar is attached below and feedback can be sent to email@example.com.
