COVID-19 Information & Updates

February 07, 2020

On May 15, Premier Horgan, Education Minister Rob Fleming, and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that British Columbia's schools would enter Stage 3 of the BC Restart Plan for K-12 education.

Under Stage 3, effective June 1, 2020, parents have the choice of sending their children to school on a part-time basis. Stage 3 includes:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 5: voluntary in-class instruction 2 days per week, supplemented with remote learning.
  • Grades 6 to 12: voluntary in-class instruction 1 day a week, supplemented with remote learning.
  • Children of essential service workers (aged 5-12), identified vulnerable students and special needs students: option to attend school 5 days per week.
  • Families who decide not to send their children to class: continued remote learning until the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

The health and safety of our students and staff is always our top priority and we continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Island Health Authority.

The district has developed specific school occupancy protocols to ensure that our schools meet all the health and safety protocols and direction from provincial public health and the Ministry of Education.
