In recognition of National Child & Youth Mental Health Day, the F.O.R.C.E. Society for Kids' Mental Health, Institute of Families and School District 72 are co-hosting a free event for parents, students, school staff, and other community members on May 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Robron Centre.
Come together to learn more about the mental health needs of our children and youth, and the important factor that school and family connectedness plays in the mental wellness of our kids.
Presentations will include: the importance of school connectedness; resiliency; anxiety; teens & substance abuse; suicide prevention from a youth perspective; mindfulness and other wellness practices; and a panel of youth will be speaking about their lived experience with mental health challenges and their stories of hope.
There will be a free BBQ, performances from local youth and the Aboriginal community, as well as many other local service providers on hand to provide information on their services.
