School District 72 is in the process of considering calendar options for the 2015/2016 school year and the Board of Education has selected three possible calendar options to survey parents and district staff for their preference.
There are some unique considerations for the 2015/2016 school calendar because Labour Day in September 2015 falls later than usual, during the second week of September instead of the first week.
Parents and district staff will be emailed a link to the 2015/2016 calendar consultation survey from the school district and are encouraged to take a couple minutes to review the options and participate in the short two question survey. The survey will close on Friday, March 6 at 8 p.m.
The Board of Education will take the survey results into account when they select the final school calendar at their March 24 public board meeting.
Calendar options were suggested by the district’s calendar committee, comprised of representatives from the Board of Education, Campbell River Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association, Campbell River District Teachers’ Association, CUPE Local 723, the District Parent Advisory Council, senior management, the Pro-D coordinator, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council, and students from Carihi and Timberline secondary schools.
The final school calendar must be submitted into the Ministry of Education by March 31.
The calendar options are available to view below.
