About SD72 G Suite for Education (GSFE)

School District 72 is excited to offer staff and students Google for Education accounts.
Students' G Suite use is intended to aid in the educational process and facilitate the instruction of digital, and online-based skills to better equip students for the working world.

School District 72 students and staff use GSFE tools to enhance collaboration, communication and workflow.

All SD72 students (elementary through to secondary school) and staff have the ability to access a G Suite for Education account by completing the online consent forms. This can be done through Student Connect, Parent Connect or Employee Connect by consenting to some simple statements.

GSFE Student Accounts

A GSFE student account allows students (and teachers) to access learning situations within a secure, online collaboration platform provided and managed by the school district. GSFE offers unlimted online file storage and is to be used for educational purposes along with other Google extensions and applications. These are accessible from any device that has internet access.

In School District 72, all students under the age of 18 are required to obtain parental permission to activate a district-managed GSFE account. Students aged 13 and up will also have to consent (in addition to the parental consent). This permission will need to be renewed annually. If consent is not granted, an alternative resource will be provided.

What Applications Will Be Available and How Are They Managed?

The applications available are administered by a team of educators and technicians in School District 72. The district has the ability to customize the features and functions to serve students in the best possible way and this administrative team will choose what apps and features students have access to. Below is an outline of the top used applications available for education in SD72 and what will be available at each level:

GSFE Security Protocols Compared to Public Google Accounts

While GSFE provides staff and students with access to the same tools as a ‘public’ Google account, however, there are important differences between the two. The GSFE accounts for staff and students in schools will be managed by the SD72 domain administration. Applications will be applied which block advertisements and 3rd party scanning of student or staff information for advertising, and allow for more strict filtering and application control by SD72 system administrators.
