Georgia Park Students Enjoy New Playground

Georgia Park Elementary students got a new playground to enjoy on their recess and lunch breaks this school year.
Rachel Bettenson, parent advisory council president, cut the ribbon to officially open the new zipline and playground at a ceremony on the first day of school.
The new playground was made possible with thanks to extensive fundraising from the parent advisory council, countless volunteer hours by parents and community members, the generous donation of equipment and supplies from community organizations, and funding from the Ministry’s Playground Equipment Program.
School districts can apply for playground equipment funding each year, but playgrounds are funded based on the greatest need and priority is given to schools that don’t have a playground at all or where the existing playground is no longer safe.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this playground a reality!
