Quadra Elementary students in Ms. Kuschel’s grade 4/5 class got creative in collaboration with Mrs. Cookie to learn about simple machines, Newton's laws and explore science hands-on! 🏎💨 Using wheels, axles, straws, and Life Savers, they built Puff Cars and had a thrilling race to see whose Puff Car was the fastest. 🏗️ They constructed an epic Rube Goldberg Machine featuring pulleys, wheels and axles, levers, inclined planes, screws, and wedges to learn about chain reaction. And had a blast building and launching marshmallow catapults as they learned more about levers. ❄️ A snowy day turned was the perfect way to learn about inclined planes and how the laws of gravity even apply to snowballs. 👸🏼💇🏼‍♀️🏰 Students saved Rapunzel—not with a prince, but with science! Using a pulley to rescue her, they saw firsthand just how powerful simple machines can be. 🔍 And to prepare for their final test, they hunted for cards with images of simple machines and had to figure out if it was an inclined plane, screw, wedge, lever, pulley, or wheels and axles! Fun and learning combined! #CRSD72 #PhysicsFun #STEMEducation
