🎒✨ On November 21, we had the pleasure of spending part of the morning at Ripple Rock Elementary. Here's a snapshot of the amazing learning that was happening across the school: ❤️ Mrs. Brits’ class was creating “heart maps,” drawing the people, places, and things they love that bring them joy. 🐸 Ms. Carly's grade 1 class dove into the fascinating world of frogs using a Kwak’wala language kit from the Qualicum First Nation to explore and learn. 🧪 Mrs. Cook's grade 3/4 class turned their classroom into a science lab, experimenting with the density of liquids and discovering what happens when oil, milk, and dish soap come together. 🦉 Mrs. Mellstrom's students were engaged in an inquiry project on animals of their choosing, including killer whales, dragonflies, walruses, painted turtles, owls, snakes, and more! ➕ Mrs. Reinholt's grade 1/2 class was busy rotating through math centres, practicing and building their skills in creative ways. The energy and excitement for learning were infectious, and we’re so proud of the creativity and curiosity our students and staff bring to every day! 💡📚 #CRSD72 #DayInTheLife #EngagedLearners #SD72Learns

✨ Welcome Back, Carihi Tyees! ✨ We’re happy to welcome Carihi students, staff, and families back after the recent fire. The past week has truly shown the strength, resilience, and support that define the Carihi community and our entire school district. 💚 A huge thank you to the firefighters who acted quickly to contain the fire and minimize the damage. We are also so grateful to our incredible maintenance and operations team, who worked tirelessly to prepare Carihi, Oyster River, and other temporary satellite locations for a smooth return to learning. To our Carihi students and families, thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through this challenging time. As classes resume for Carihi students and staff, let’s take a moment to reflect on the power of community that has carried us through. If your child or family needs additional support during this transition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Carihi staff. Together, we’ll ensure every student feels safe and supported.

UPDATE November 29, 2024 posted at 9:05 a.m We are happy to confirm that Carihi Secondary will reopen to students on Monday, December 2. Independent air quality testing has been completed, and the school has been cleared for staff and students to return. School staff returned to the building today, November 29, to prepare for students’ return. Starting Monday, December 2, the former Oyster River school will be the main temporary satellite location for Carihi Secondary classes while B-wing is being repaired. This temporary move is hoped to last only three weeks, until the Winter Break, but repairs may take up to two months. A school bus will transport students between Carihi Secondary and Oyster River. Some classes will also be held at École des Deux Mondes Elementary, and gym classes will take place at Robron Centre until further notice. To meet class needs, a few classes will also move to different spaces within Carihi. To minimize lost instructional time, the school will use a simple Day 1 and Day 2 schedule with double blocks. • Day 1 (Blocks A and C): Mondays and Wednesdays • Day 2 (Blocks B and D): Tuesdays and Thursdays • Fridays will alternate between Day 1 and Day 2 Start and dismissal times will stay the same, and the morning and afternoon bus schedules will not change. On November 28, Carihi students and families received detailed information about which classes will move temporarily to Oyster River and where students will attend starting Monday, December 2. We continue to provide updates as they are available and thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this challenging time. Please continue to check our website and district social media for official updates.
