Happy Holidays From Southgate!
Dear Parents & Families,
We’re about to close our doors for two weeks, and I want to take this opportunity to wish you all well over the holiday season.
Your children have worked hard over the past four months, and we’re happy to see their growth. Our school puts great emphasis on inclusion and honouring everyone’s unique being. It’s important to us that your children feel safe and know that they belong at their school. Your children are at a developmental stage of adolescence where they are identifying who they are at a deep level. This stage of identity can be difficult, but exciting, and our goal is to not only provide great teaching but be a coach and cheerleader for them. It’s important that everyone has a sense of belonging at Southgate, and this is our goal.
Thank you to all our staff, parents and community volunteers who provide so many fantastic clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities for our students. Most of these opportunities are done in addition to an already busy work schedule that everyone has, and we appreciate the extra effort. These activities are providing belonging and safe spaces for our students to be in.
Thank you to our parent volunteers who are helping make our Gator Den a success! We appreciate you! Proceeds from the Gator Den will be split between all 24 homeroom classes, so teachers have access to funds for special initiatives for your children. Thank you to our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and executive members who have an important role in supporting your children at Southgate. All parents and guardians are members of the PAC, and we encourage you to come out to our meetings in the New Year.
On behalf of Southgate Staff, we wish all our families a safe and happy two-week break.
Happy Holidays and Happy Solstice! We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023. 😊
