Meaning Of Home Poster - Habitat for Humanity Meaning of Home Writing Contest. Students in grades 4-6 are invited to submit a poem or essay explaining that home means to them. The Meaning of Home contest is a great opportunity for students to: Build their creative writing skills. Learn about the importance of having a safe home. Participate in Community Engagement by raising money and awareness for your local Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (Habitat VIN). Each student submission provides Habitat VIN with a $10 donation from Sagen™, founding sponsor of the contest. Also, grand prize winners will receive an iPad and a pizza party for their class and runners-up will receive a tablet and a class pizza party. Habitat VIN will receive $30,000 if a student in your school district is a winner and $10,000 for a runner-up. This funding will go directly into building new affordable homes for local families. In the past this contest has resulted in two local runners-up, with each winning a $10,000 grant towards local Habitat housing projects. Classrooms that participate can complete the activity before Christmas and submit entries in January either online, through email or by mail.
Dental Poster - The second and final Canada Dental Benefit period is open for applications to cover dental costs between July 1, 2023 and June 20, 2024 for eligible families of children up to 12 years of age. Even families who applied during the first benefit period can re-apply for the final benefit period. See the poster and fact sheet for more information and details on how to apply.
