IMPORTANT: Fall Bus Pass Information
Dear parents/guardians,
Starting this fall, most families will no longer need to apply every year for a school bus pass.
If your child already has a bus pass and their situation has not changed, no action is needed for the 2026-2027 school year.
You only need to apply for a bus pass if your child:
- Has changed home address or school (and is eligible based on walk limits)
- Is entering middle or secondary school
- Requires accessible transportation
- Had a courtesy ridership pass last year
If your child meets any of the criteria above, please apply by June 26, 2026, to get your child's bus pass by the end of the first week of school in September. Note, courtesy ridership is only approved if there is remaining space on the route after all eligible riders have been processed and is on a first come, first served basis. Courtesy ridership passes may not be issued until after September 30.
Students who live on reserve DO NOT need to apply because they will be registered by the Indigenous Education department in partnership with their band office. Returning international students must apply for bus transportation through the international student program.

If your child's lanyard is in good condition, please keep it so that it can be reused next year. School offices will have a limited supply of lanyards for those who need replacements.
Full details, including eligibility and walk limits, are available on the district website: sd72.bc.ca/student-transportation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the transportation department at (250) 287.8808 ext. 2 or email transportation@sd72.bc.ca.
Sincerely,
