New Attendance Pilot
Hello Southgate parents and caregivers,
Over the next two weeks, our school will be piloting a revised attendance notification process.
You may notice some changes in how and when you receive messages if your child has an unexcused absence or is marked late. The goal is to create a more consistent and timely process across all schools in the district.
You will receive an automated phone call or email if your child has an absence that has not been reported to the school. This helps us confirm student safety and ensure all students are accounted for during the school day. If you receive a message, please respond as soon as possible by calling the school attendance line at 250-923-4253 or replying to the email.
When reporting an absence or late, please include your name, your child’s full name, the date, and the reason.
Your timely response will help us ensure the process works well before it is implemented across all schools.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you for your support,
Southgate Middle School
