Cedar Elementary Holds Annual Salmon Feast
Cedar Elementary students and staff gathered for a salmon feast on May 12, continuing this longstanding school tradition.
The event brought students, staff and guests together outdoors in the sunshine. Salmon was generously provided by Michelle Cartwright and Kris Tyerman.
The Cedar drum group performed during the gathering, led by knowledge keeper Qwaya Sam. The performance added to the sense of community and connection at the event.
Due to the current fire ban, the salmon could not be prepared using traditional methods. Staff used a barbeque, with support from Ripple Rock Elementary, to ensure the meal could still go ahead.
The annual feast offers students a chance to learn through shared experience, connecting food, culture and community.
