Upcoming Field Trip to Campbell River - February 26th
Join us for an exciting and educational field trip to Campbell River! This adventure-packed day will include rock climbing and an art gallery visit, providing students with a mix of physical activity and cultural enrichment.
Schedule:
- 7:30 AM: Parents drop off student(s) at Whaletown Ferry Terminal. Please ensure you check in with the teacher for attendance.
- 8:50 AM: Bus meets at Heriot Bay (the grocery store) for Quathiaski Cove Ferry (9:30 AM Ferry).
- 9:40 AM: Public transit to On the Rocks Climbing Gym.
- 10:15-11:15 AM: Climbing Session at On the Rocks Climbing Gym.
- 11:20 AM: Public Transit to Art Gallery.
- 12:00-1:30 PM: Art Gallery Session.
- 1:35 PM: Walk to Campbell River Ferry Terminal (1:55 PM Ferry).
- 2:05 PM: Bus from Quathiaski Cove to Heriot Bay (3:05 PM Ferry).
- 3:50 PM: Parents pick up student(s) at Whaletown Ferry Terminal.
Rock Climbing at "On the Rocks" in Campbell River (10:15-11:15 AM):
Students will enjoy a guided climbing session with our staff members, including all gear rentals. The gym features 33ft climbing walls coated with textured concrete for a realistic indoor climbing experience. The main climbing area has 18 “top-rope” stations with 3 to 4 routes on each rope.
Important Rules:
- Look up! Watch out for other climbers above. Never walk under other climbers or between the climbing wall and belayers working with ropes.
- No Running! Running is not acceptable within the Climbing Gym.
- Active Supervision: Supervisors are responsible for the behavior of the students they are supervising.
- No Snacks or Drinks: Snacks and drinks are not permitted during school group visits.
- No Wrestling or Rough Housing: Absolutely no wrestling or rough housing in the gym.
Art Gallery Visit (12:00-1:30 PM):
Students will visit the Art Gallery to see the "Annual Membership Show." This favorite time of year fills the gallery with an exciting variety of artwork from local imagination and experience. Join us for the Members’ Show, a time-honored tradition celebrating the many talented artists living in Campbell River and the region.
We look forward to a day filled with adventure, creativity, and learning! This trip promises to be a memorable experience for all students, combining physical challenges with artistic inspiration.
