September 25th Truth and Reconciliation Event
    Hosted by Klahoose

    School Bus Transportation Provided

Cortes Island School students will take part in a special Truth and Reconciliation event hosted by the Klahoose First Nation. The day will include a guided tour of the new cultural building, drumming, singing, and a shared lunch—a meaningful time to connect, reflect, and honour Indigenous traditions through food and community.

Leading up to the event, students will craft handmade gifts at the school to bring as a gesture of respect and gratitude.

This is a valuable opportunity for students to learn, build relationships, and engage in the spirit of reconciliation.

We recognize that September 29 is traditionally observed as Orange Shirt Day at the school, and we willalso be wearing orange shirts for our Truth and Reconciliation trip to Klahoose on September 25.
