January
The students are showing their enthusiasm to be back at the school.
Thank you to all the family and friends who were able to join us for our Winter Celebration, and to everyone who pulled it together to make everything run smoothly. Check out the photos of all the smiling faces it helped create.
It is a tremendous time of learning. Over the next few months our teachers will be focusing on student learning gains. It is a good time to set goals, reinforce routines, and review habits. Setting goals can help with responsibility, boost problem-solving abilities, and increase self-confidence. Goals build focus and instill purpose when working toward something. Goals can be small and simple, chosen together with the intent, and should be attainable and realistic. When children put positive energy into their intentions, the satisfaction gained in achieving those goals strengthen their resolve and resiliency for future endeavors.
Highlights
Claudia the primary class teacher and her class is collaborating with the museum, Laurel Bohart and Donna Collins. They will be participating in The Mother Tree and Marine Alphabet programs.
Prior to Winter Break the Grade 2-4 students each made a tree ornament for a Senior living at the village across the street. Each was wrapped with a tag for the person by the student.
Back in September the students at our school raised $675.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation. That is a huge amount for a small school! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered for the walk/run.
Hot lunch
A new Free Hot Lunch Program put together by the school with Amy Brockner and Lucy Diver to start this month. Dates to be confirmed and posted.
