Get ready to unleash your energy at the vibrant Colourful Run on Sunday, June 14! Walk, jog, or run the fun-filled route - no timing or competition, just good vibes. Afterward hit the Splash Park for the afterparty with snacks, music, and a giant foam pit! Check-in opens 9 a.m, race starts 9:30 a.m. Registration $5 per person ages 6+, free for ages 0-5. Open to all ages! This event is hosted by the City of Campbell River Recreation department to bring together members of our community in a fun and active environment. 
Colourful Run

The Vancouver Island Down Syndrome Society is holding their annual awareness walk and picnic on Saturday, June 13 at Robert Ostler Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will include an awareness walk, picnic, and opportunities for families, friends, and community members to come together in support of individuals with Down Syndrome. This year’s event also coincides with the highly anticipated annual Kite Flying Day taking place at the same venue, making it a fun and vibrant community event for families to enjoy together. Science World is restarting their overnight school camp programs, welcoming students in grades 3-7, educators, and parents for hands-on learning experiences that engage curiousity, teamwork, and memorable connections beyond the classroom. Vancouver Island Crisis Society is making changes to its crisis services. As of May 1, 2026, its local evening chat and text service ended. Families and students can continue to access 24/7 crisis support by calling or texting 9-8-8, Canada’s national suicide crisis helpline. The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) is recruiting foster caregivers throughout BC to provide care for school-aged children and youth.

BC Children’s Hospital offers these young sibling support groups at no cost to families. It is an online monthly peer group for 8-11 year old siblings who have a sibling with a chronic health condition and/or disability. Discovery Passage Aquarium provides mobile and on-site marine education programs for kindergarten to grade 12 students. Programs include live animals, hands-on activities, and curriculum-aligned lessons that support science learning and environmental literacy. Sessions are delivered by trained educators and can be adapted for different grade levels and learning environments.
