Carihi Hosts Wellness Fair to Support Student Wellbeing
Carihi students had the chance to explore a wide range of health and wellness resources during the school’s Wellness Fair on November 19. The event brought together local organizations, school staff and student leaders to share practical tools and information to help students care for their mental, physical and social wellbeing.
The fair was organized by fourth year North Island College nursing students as part of a leadership project. Connecting with the school community this way gives them the chance to build experience in planning, outreach and health promotion while supporting youth.
Throughout the day, classes visited interactive stations focused on topics such as healthy habits, community supports, mental health awareness and ways to stay active and connected. Students were able to ask questions, try hands-on activities and learn about services available both at school and in the wider community.
Staff say the fair is an important way to make wellness approachable and visible for students. Community partners play a key role by showing students the range of supports available close to home.
The school extends its thanks to the NIC nursing students, community partners and staff who contributed to the success of this year’s event and who continue to champion student wellness at Carihi.
