CASE Youth Leadership Summit Returns to Cortes Island this May

Curriculum & Learning, General News
CASE Leadership Summit 2026

Students from across the region, including School District 72, are invited to take part in the CASE Youth Leadership Summit, returning to Cortes Island from May 3 to 8, 2026.

The summit will take place at the Hollyhock Leadership Learning Centre and is hosted by the Cortes Island Academy. The event brings youth, educators and community mentors together for a week of hands-on learning focused on leadership, creativity and connection to place.

The program is built on a mentorship model. Students work closely with artists, knowledge-holders and educators while learning alongside other youth from rural, remote and Indigenous communities. The goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen relationships and see themselves as leaders in their communities.

This year’s summit will focus on creative expression and storytelling. Participants will explore art, music, film, writing and land-based learning. Activities will also include learning from Indigenous perspectives and working together on collaborative projects.

The summit is open to secondary students who are interested in creative learning, leadership and community work. It may be a good fit for students involved in experiential learning, home learning programs or alternative education, as well as those who want to connect with other youth who share similar interests.

Educators and community mentors are also welcome to take part.

More information, including how to apply, is available on the Cortes Island Academy website at CASE Leadership Summit 2026 | Cortes Island Academy.

School District 72 encourages students and families who may be interested to learn more about this opportunity. Programs like the CASE Youth Leadership Summit help students build confidence, explore their interests and connect learning to the world around them.
