Whole School Field Trip – Children’s Forest

On Tuesday, June 9th, Cortes School students will be heading out together for a whole-school field trip to the Children’s Forest

Students will travel by bus and walk into the forest as a group, where they will take part in a morning of learning and exploration guided by community knowledge keepers Jessie, and guest storyteller, with support form Georgina and Christine.

Activities will include:

  • Welcome circle with song and drumming
  • Storytelling about local plants and traditional knowledge
  • Introduction to Ayajuthem plant names
  • A team-based scavenger hunt to find and identify forest plants
  • Sketching and sharing discoveries together
This field trip offers a meaningful, hands-on educational experience, connecting students to the land, local culture, and the ʔayʔaǰuθəm language in an engaging and memorable way.
