Truth and Reconciliation Day at Hollyhock
On Thursday October 1st students will participate in a meaningful day of learning and connection in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day. The day will include welcoming a Klahoose canoe team to Hollyhock Beach, learning from Indigenous knowledge keepers, and taking part in cultural teachings that deepen understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives.
Students from Cortes Island School and Surge Narrows will come together to build community, strengthen relationships, and share a meal. Through these shared experiences, students will foster respect, understanding, and appreciation for Indigenous cultures and traditions.
Parents and caregivers are warmly invited to join us at Hollyhock Beach for the canoe welcome, cultural teachings, and shared lunch. We encourage families to participate in this special opportunity for learning, connection, and community.
