CR Students Earn Medals at Skills Canada North Island Regionals

Students from Carihi and Timberline secondary schools earned several medals at the Skills Canada North Island regional competition held Friday, February 20.

Gold medal winners will advance to the provincial Skills Canada competition in Abbotsford on April 15, 2026. Provincial winners will move on to the national competition, which will be held this year in Toronto.

Just over 200 students participated in the North Island event, including about 70 senior and 160 junior competitors.

Carihi students Jett Taylor and Indy Cook won gold in 3D animation. Emily Barker earned gold in digital art. Timberline student Kevin Johnstone captured gold in cabinetmaking. Timberline student Julian Ciumac also earned gold in video production alongside a teammate whose name is not being released due to a privacy request.

Silver medals were earned by Carihi student Lochlan McConnell in 3D animation with a teammate whose name is not being released due to a privacy request. A Carihi student also earned silver in baking. The student’s name is not being released due to a privacy request. Timberline student Oskar Regenspurger earned silver in cabinetmaking, while another Timberline student earned silver in digital art. The digital art student’s name is not being released due to a privacy request.

Bronze medals were awarded to Carihi students Brynna Dybwad in 2D animation, Dani Pimlott in digital art, and Linden Schulz in photography.

Skills Canada supports students in exploring careers in trades and technology through hands-on competitions and learning experiences that build workplace skills.
