After accepting the role, Craig Gillis thanked the community for placing its trust in the new board and emphasized that students will remain at the centre of its work.
“We are here to serve our students. We may think differently at times, but through debate and our board process, we will make decisions that we believe serve our entire district.”
With the oath of office complete and its leadership selected, the new Board of Education begins its work governing the school district and serving students, families, staff and communities.
The board’s first regular public meeting will be held December 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the school board office.
The Board of Education provides local governance for public education, including setting the district’s strategic direction, establishing policy and approving the annual budget.
