Ocean Grove Elementary to Get a New Playground
Ocean Grove Elementary School will soon have a new playground after receiving approval for provincial funding.
The school is one of several across the province approved for $200,000 through BC’s Playground Equipment Program (PEP) to build a new accessible playground. The project will replace aging equipment and create a more inclusive outdoor play space for students.
The new playground will support daily physical activity and provide more opportunities for imaginative and cooperative play during recess and lunch. Accessibility features will help ensure students of all abilities can use the space.
School districts can apply for PEP funding from the Ministry of Education and Child Care each year. Playgrounds are funded based on greatest need, with priority given to schools without a playground, followed by schools where existing equipment is aging.
Planning will begin in collaboration with the school and its parent advisory council. Construction timelines will be shared once planning is complete.
