SD72 School Calendars Set for Next Three Years

The Board of Education has approved school calendars for the 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 school years for the Campbell River School District.

The calendars include changes based on feedback from parents and staff and meet all instructional hours and days set by the Ministry of Education and Child Care.

One key change affects the start of the school year. The Tuesday after Labour Day, which is usually the first day of classes, will be a professional development day. The first day of school will now be Wednesday.

Each school year will include one student learning conference in the fall. Instead of a spring conference, families will receive learning updates that follow ministry reporting guidelines.

The calendars were developed by a committee of invited representatives from district unions, principals and vice-principals, the pro-d committee, the District Parent Advisory Council, student leadership, trustees and district staff. Draft calendars were shared with staff and posted on the district website for public feedback from Dec. 12 to Jan. 9.

Important dates from the school calendars will be posted on the district and school websites, under the calendar feature.
