The 2026 Ball Hockey Provincial Champions

A team of Campbell River high school students has won the provincial ball hockey championship, finishing with a 2–1 overtime victory in the final.

The team, made up of students from Carihi Secondary and Timberline Secondary, went undefeated through the tournament before securing the title on Sunday.

They opened the event with two strong wins on Friday, defeating their first opponents 3–2 and 5–0 to earn a spot in the semifinals.

Coach Tylere Couture said the group’s effort and sportsmanship stood out throughout the tournament.

After one game, a referee shared feedback that reflected the team’s approach.

“You guys are my new favourite team to ref. I don’t hear a peep out of any of them. No chirping. No complaining, nothing. They just battle hard and don’t stop running,” the referee said.

The team included players from both Carihi and Timberline, ranging from Grades 10 to 12. Contributions came from across the roster, with players taking on both offensive and defensive roles, supported by strong goaltending.

The trip was made possible in part through support from the Timberline PAC, which covered the tournament entry fee.

The win caps off a successful tournament for the group and highlights the strong collaboration between the two secondary schools.
