Southgate Grade 8 Girls Win North Island Basketball Championship

The Southgate Grade 8 girls basketball team are North Island champions.

The Gators secured the title Friday, February 20 with a 29 to 27 win over Alberni District Secondary School in the final game. It was a close matchup that came down to the final minutes.

Throughout the tournament, the team showed strong defence, steady ball movement and consistent hustle. In the championship game, every possession mattered. The players stayed focused and worked together to protect their narrow lead.

Earlier in the day, Southgate defeated Brooks Secondary School 33 to 18 to earn their place in the final.

The championship marks an exciting achievement for the team and a proud moment for the school community. Congratulations to the players and coaches on a strong season and a well-earned win.
