Statement on Incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School

We are heartbroken by the tragic events that took place yesterday at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Our thoughts are with the students, staff and families who are facing an unimaginable loss.

As a sign of respect and shared care, flags at all district sites will be lowered to half-mast.

We know that news like this can be unsettling for families in our own community. The safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. While incidents like this are rare, we regularly review our safety and emergency procedures to ensure our schools remain safe and prepared.

Our staff are checking in with students and offering support as needed. School and district counsellors are also available for any student who would benefit from extra care.

We stand alongside the Tumbler Ridge community during this difficult time.
