The Campbell River Board of Education regularly meets throughout the school year. Below is a summary of the highlights from the September 15, 2026 public meeting.
Literacy & Numeracy Resources for Kindergarten to Grade 3 Families
The Ministry of Education and Child Care has developed resources for families of kindergarten to Grade 3 students to help them better understand literacy and numeracy learning in school.
New Provincial Resource Helps Families Support Safe, Welcoming Schools
The Ministry of Education and Child Care has launched BC's Welcoming Schools, a new online resource that brings together information and tools to help students feel safe, connected and supported at school.
2026 School Trustee Election
On October 17, 2026 voters in BC will elect mayors, councilors, area directors, school trustees and others to fill four-year terms on municipal councils, regional district boards, school boards, and other public organizations.

School Board Trustee Candidates Debate
7:00 PM - 7:30 PMEvent DetailsSchool Board Trustee Candidates Debate 1220 Shoppers Row, Campbell River, BC V9W 2C8, Canada 7:00 PM - 7:30 PMCommunity EventThe Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce, Campbell River Mirror and the Tidemark Theatre Society are co-hosting the trustee candidates debate for those running for a seat on the School District 72 Board of Education. Seating is on a first come first serve basis or you can watch the live stream on the Tidemark Theatre website.
The public are invited to send their questions to exdir@campbellriverchamber.ca.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. - debates will run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Community EventGeneral Voting Day for the 2026 school trustee election will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Residents of School District 72 can vote to elect seven trustees to the Board of Education for the 2026 to 2030 term. Trustees are elected from three electoral areas: Greater Campbell River, Sayward Valley, and the Discovery Islands (Quadra, Cortes & Read).

🌱 “Best field trip ever!” That was one student's reaction after helping harvest the Pinecrest Elementary garden in the School District 72 courtyard on Friday. Students dug up giant carrots, garlic and potatoes, seeing firsthand how months of care can turn into a thriving harvest. 🥕🥔 Hands-on learning like this helps students connect with nature, food systems and the satisfaction of growing something themselves. It also gave district office staff a chance to share in the excitement and celebrate students' hard work. 🌿 #CRSD72 #LearningInAction #SchoolGardens
A visit to Sandowne Elementary this week captured some of the many ways students learn, grow and build confidence each day. Grade 1 students created pictures and wrote goals about learning to read this year. 📚 A Grade 2 class talked about healthy food choices and how that can help them stay focused for learning. 🍎 One student in our newly created Path program rode a bike for the very first time.🚲🎉 Students strengthened their math skills through a game of Bump. And a Grade 2/3 class learned about Terry Fox and the legacy of the Marathon of Hope ahead of this weekend's Terry Fox Run. ❤️ These learning moments may look different, but they all help students build the skills, confidence and connections they need to succeed. #CRSD72 #LearningInAction #StudentSuccess
