Kai’s Call out March 2026 Could it be that spring has sprung or is it too early to get excited? February seems a distant memory, a great big thank you to our PAC for supporting our rock climbing and gymnastics field trip. A big shout out to our staff for supporting the Belonging Assembly and the ongoing work of all the students who have been leaning into their school work and community building (our Circle of Courage Wall is growing daily), there is also more than just a “sprinkling” of kindness (even though the activity on pink shirt day was to “sprinkle” kindness) happening around the school. Spring Break is on the horizon March 23 – April 8th (April 7 is a Pro-D Day). Report cards will be ready to go home with students on March 19, and our next Student Led conference day will be April 30th. Planning for spring activities has started (okay a little too early to get excited about the bike rodeo, camp bob, miracle beach, fun day….) but it is happening! In April we will be focussing on Independence as the third part of our Circle of Courage work. Independence is an important area of growth for kids; decision making and behaviour regulation are essential for growth and resilience. All are skill building to resist negative peer influence and foster self-esteem. As always if you have any questions or concerns how things are going for your student on their learning journey or how things are going in general in their class or school, please reach out and connect with their teacher for updates. If you have questions or want to share some great ideas or opportunities for our school, please contact me directly. Kai

Our incredible PAC is ALWAYS working hard behind the scenes to ensure our students receive healthy hot lunches. They are always looking for more volunteers to help to reduce the amount of work of those who already help. Many hands make light work after all! Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must fill out the volunteer forms. At least one of the two cooks must have a valid Food Safe certificate. Cooks are expected to prep, cook, plate, and clean up each time. Volunteering for the hot lunch program is a rewarding experience that allows you to directly contribute to the well-being of our students. Whether you have culinary skills or simply a passion for helping out, your participation is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the school office. Thank you for your support and dedication to our school community. PAC is able to reimburse Food Safe certification for volunteers who cook three or more times in a school year. https://www.sd72.bc.ca/sayward/hot-lunch-volunteers-needed
