Releasing the Chinook into Newcastle Creek!!

On Thursday, March 19, students at Sayward Elementary School celebrated a special learning experience by releasing 100 Chinook salmon fry into Newcastle Creek. All students took part in the release, making it a memorable event for the whole school.Over the past few months, students watched the Chinook salmon eggs hatch and grow into fry. The Grade 4/5/6 class took on the important job of caring for the fish by feeding them daily and checking the health of the tank. This project gave students a hands-on way to learn about the salmon life cycle and the importance of caring for our local environment.
