Graphic for january update

It was wonderful last week to see all the students return and jump right back into their learning and reconnecting with one another and their teachers, felt like we didn’t miss a beat. January doesn’t seem to want to offer us any snow days, our 2 hrs of snow dusting was met with enthusiasm and calls to get the crazy carpets out, but alas it all evaporated before we could even struggle into our snow gear.

Or Circle of Courage focus for this month is Belonging, classes will be exploring what it means to belong to a greater group and how to make others feel they belong. We will have an assembly to early February to celebrate. Our Thursday sessions with Will Henderson, focussing on the story of the drum will continue through the month.

Thank you for all that reached out and offered to assist with our hot lunch program, many hands make lighter work for this dedicated crew of volunteers, and our fortunate kiddos thoroughly enjoy hot lunch Thursdays.

As always if you have any questions or concerns how things are going for your student on their learning journey or how things are going in general in their class or school, please reach out and connect with their teacher for updates. If you have questions or want to share some great ideas or opportunities for our school, please contact me directly.

Hope all is Well in 2026

Kai

I would like to add a huge Thank You to Catherine Clinton who will be leaving us next week to take the courageous leap to continue pursuing her education at North Island CollegeI think it is well understood that Catherine has been the heart and soul of Sayward Elementary for the past 4 years and her calm organized presence will be missed. While we are a little sad to see her go, we are all so grateful for what she has done for this school and super excited about seeing her take on this next chapter. Her last day in the building will be January 15th.
