Carihi PAC Meeting - May 12th

PAC Meeting May 12th

Dear Carihi Parents and Guardians,

My name is Cheryl and I have been involved in Carihi Secondary PAC since 2021 in the role of treasurer. This year the PAC board was small, but very dedicated. We meet 6-7 times a year with administration to discuss activities taking place in the school and how PAC can support the entire school community.  Annually, we also receive ~$18,000 in gaming grant funding which is used to support many extracurricular activities, including, but not limited to, leadership, art, drama, choir, band, athletics, robotics, gamers club, grad and student  provincial and national competitions .

As we are nearing the end of the school year we have learned that we will be losing several key members of the PAC executive, including our president, secretary and treasurer. What does this mean? Without an elected executive the PAC will not be able to apply for important grants such as the BC Gaming Grant; without this grant many extracurricular activities will no longer be available/funded at Carihi. The BC Gaming Grant supports the majority of our extra-curricular activities in the school, without the gaming grant costs of extra-curricular activities will be borne by parents.

If you are interested in finding out more about the PAC please do not hesitate to reach out at the email below.  You are also welcome to attend the next meeting on May 12th.

Next meeting:

May 12th, 2025, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Carihi Library

carihipac@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Cheryl Chatterton

PAC treasurer
