What Happens When Winter Weather Hits?

We do our best to keep schools open every instructional day, but sometimes extreme weather, especially heavy snow, makes that impossible. Safety is always our top priority. If buses can't run safely or travel conditions put students at risk, schools may need to close.

How You'll Know if Schools Are Closed

• By 7:00 a.m., we'll post updates on:
  • The district and school websites.
  • The district's Facebook, Instagram and X/Twitter.
• If you use the district's parent portal app and have notifications turned on, you'll get an alert as soon as the message goes live.
• If power outages prevent online updates, local media will also share the news.

Tune into Local Radio

• 100.7 FM - The Raven
• 97.3 FM - The Eagle
• 98.9 FM - Jet FM

If there's no announcement by 7:00 a.m., schools are open as usual.

Even when schools are open, we understand if you feel it's safer to keep your child home or pick them up early. Just let us know by reporting the absence through your school's attendance line.
