Cross Country Teams Race to Provincial Qualifications
Students from across our district showed grit and determination at the Vancouver Island Cross Country Championships on October 22.
Eight Timberline Secondary runners competed and gave their best efforts. The senior girls team earned a spot at the upcoming BC Championships with a fourth place finish. Denys Plakhotin also qualified as an individual in the senior boys category.
Carihi Secondary also had a strong showing. Eight athletes raced and two qualified for the provincial championships. Stella Nadler placed fourth overall in the junior girls race and Cameron Meldrum qualified as an individual in the senior boys category.
Two grade 8 runners from Southgate Middle also joined the competition and ran great races.
All of our athletes noted that the course was challenging, slippery and fast. They rose to the occasion and represented their schools well.
