Carihi Guitar Class Performing "Tell Me Something"

Carihi Secondary's guitar class, in collaboration with the school's choir and music composition programs, has submitted an entry in the 2022 CBC Music Class Challenge, and you can now watch their performance on the CBC Music Class YouTube channel.

This outstanding band – comprised of AJ Lontayao on drums, Kalin Lagos on bass, Roger Shi on lead guitar, Griffin Lelliott on rhythm guitar and Grace Lelliott on vocals chose to enter their cover of Tanika Charles’ soulful “Tell Me Something” as their submission.

Each year CBC Music, in association with MusiCounts, challenges music teachers from across Canada to teach their students a Canadian song from a provided list, create a video of the performance, and submit it for a chance to win prizes and be featured on CBC's digital, radio, and television platforms.

The contest goals are for kids to learn Canadian music, draw attention to the exceptional work of music educators across the country, and reinforce the importance of music in a well-rounded education.

The top class in each category will win $3,000 in musical instruments and a gold plaque. Additional $1,000 prizes will be awarded for the top community class and best performance of 'Nikamo' by Brunstick in Cree.

The top 10 will be announced on December 7 and the winners on December 14.
