How To Get Help With a Concern

From time to time, questions or concerns may come up about your child’s learning or experience at school. When that happens, we want families to feel comfortable about how to raise a concern and who to talk to.
The best place to start is with your child’s teacher or the staff member most directly involved. Many concerns can be worked out together in conversation, and this is often the quickest way to reach understanding.
If the concern isn’t resolved, the next step is to connect with your school’s principal or vice-principal. School leaders are there to support families and students, and they can often help find a solution or bring in additional supports as needed.
Sometimes, a concern may need to move beyond the school level. In those cases, families can reach out to the associate superintendent’s office, and if necessary, the superintendent may also become involved. When a matter still cannot be resolved, there is a formal process to appeal a decision through the Board of Education.
This process is designed to make sure concerns are addressed fairly and respectfully at every stage. It also reflects our belief that open, honest, and respectful communication helps us all work together to support student success.
If you’re unsure about where to begin, please don’t hesitate to ask your school for guidance. We are here to listen and to help.
