Pride Month

Events & Celebrations, General News

Campbell River School District supports Pride Month through the month of June as we believe that equity and inclusion are fundamental to learning.

Pride is a celebration of community coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come, and how in some places there’s still work to be done.

Our schools celebrate self-affirmation, inclusion, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of all LGBTQ2 people. We are committed to creating environments where every experience is honoured, and every member of our school district is welcomed and treated with respect.

Schools across the district have hosted various celebrations and events for Pride Month. For example, Southgate had a Rainbow Day on June 10 where they encouraged everyone to dress in the colours of the rainbow and several schools had displays sharing a timeline of the history of LGBTQ2 rights and freedoms in Canada.
