Winter Pro-D and Mentorship Events

Wendesday January 24 - Mentor Learning Session - specifically for teachers working in the Mentorship program.  A separate email has been sent to Mentors.  If you are interested in joining this session or the mentorship program please email erin.pickering@sd72.bc.ca 

Monday January 29 2:30 - 4:15pm  Grade Group Get Together - SBO Conference Room.  Come and talk about teaching with folks in your grade range.  No prep necessary - the discussion and sharing of resources will be based around who is in the room and what folks are looking for.   Teachers are welcome to bring a tool, idea or question.   Folks will be broken into grade range groups as needed.    Come when you are finished with students, and stay as long as you can.   All teachers welcome.    Snacks and resources provided!    

Tuesday February 6  3-4:15pm  TTOC TIPS and TRICKS  Workshop - hosted by TTOC Claire Parsloe - over 20 years’ experience as a teacher.  SBO Conference Room 3-4:15pm  Register on CIMS by Feb 2. Come and talk about working as a TTOC,  hear about strategies and tools that are useful for arriving in any classroom.    Share experiences and ask Questions and walk away with resources for tomorrow.   All teachers welcome.    Snacks and Door Prizes included!  

Friday February 16 is a School Based Pro-D Day.  Please check with your PD Rep regarding the school plans for that day. If you are planning an alternative professional development activity, please speak with your PD rep at least 1-2 weeks in advance so they can plan accordingly. 

Friday February 16th  9am – 12pm   Using STEM challenges and breakout/lock boxes in an elementary classroom - SBO Conference Room hosted by TTOC Claire Parsloe.  This is a hands on experience and participants will leave with resources to use in your classroom right away. This event will be tailored to suite the grade levels of those registered.  Register on CIMS by Tuesday February 14 please.

  • sampling a variety of challenges
  • self assessment of core competencies
  • an introduction to breakout/lock boxes

Friday February 16  12-3pm BCTF Workshop – Their Voices Will Guide Us – Tentative. - SBO Conference Room. This workshop was scheduled to run on January 8th but was cancelled due to presenter illness. As such we are rescheduling it for Friday February 16 for all interested educators.  
This workshop builds knowledge around Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), while reviewing historic events leading up to the National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls final report. Educational resources such as Their Voices Will Guide Us are introduced, as well as The REDress Project initiative.  Register on CIMS by Friday February 9.   We need at least 10 people to run this session.    Open to all educators
