A journey of Learning How through Learning About and Learning From
Campbell River School District is committed to implementing the actions within the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) as part of our overarching framework for reconciliation. As a part of the Equity in Action commitment for Indigenous learners, the district is working to build environments of equity and inclusion for all learners with specific focus on the perspectives and needs for Indigenous communities.
To support our efforts, January 8th’s professional development day will have an Indigenous learning focus. To increase local historical, cultural, and present-day knowledge and understanding the learning sessions that follow the speaker panel will be hosted by local knowledge keepers, Elders, mentors, and teachers. This will provide an opportunity to enhance and further relationships and learning.
Teachers will be invited to help cohost workshops with Knowledge Keepers, if you are a teacher interested in helping in this way please email prod@sd72.bc.ca
Teachers who are interested in presenting a workshop or hosting a learning event within the day's focus can submit a workshop proposal before November 1st 2023.
Workshop Registration will open November 20 on CIMS and close on December 15th.
A List of Workshop Descriptions can be found in the Useful Links Section.
